Gastronomic group “Coya” just inaugurated its new locale in none other than the famous “W Hotel” in Barceloneta. The opening took place last Friday the 19th at night. Many selected guests attended, including a dozen of food critics. They all got to experience a new proposal of Peruvian food and popular latinoamerican dishes. Seeing that, the outcome was better than expected. The restaurant was described by one of the visitors as “the best Peruvian restaurant in Barcelona”.

“Coya” serves the classics: ceviche, tiraditos and anticuchos. Still, what made the critics describe it as a “never before seen culinary experience” was its original dishes such as the tataki and the fumed duck. In addition, the restaurant worked alongside the design brand “First Within” to make sure that the ambience was likable to the guests. The bright colors, textures and pottery are all well thought latinoamerican elements and transport the clients to a whole new environment.

One of the things that makes the owners at “Coya” proud is its Pisco Bar. This area serves traditional Pisco drinks with a new twist. The cocktails are a fusion of the old taste of the typical Peruvian alcohol and a new version of them. Some include fruits such as grapefruit, wild berries and, unquestionably, the classic Pisco Sour is not missing. To top it off,  the design of the bar is inspired in the traditional bars of Lima, the capital of Peru.

Coya embraces the culture

Yannis Stanisiere, the general director of “Coya”, says that this new restaurant is suppose to represent all of what the group stands for. “We are sharing the love of Barcelona for food, art, fusion and music”, says Stanisiere at the opening. At this point, this new locale is the 11th restaurant that the gastronomic group is opening up.
