VEJA: YOU WILL NEVER SEE IT AGAIN
Veja is a Portuguese word that means ‘to look’
SocietatZPortada Izquierda 4 mayo, 2022 user2 0Firstly, look at your shoes. Have you ever wondered where they come from? Through how many hands or rather, through how many machines have they passed? Are they really worth what you pay for them? And not only what you pay with money, but what your shoes cost the planet’s biodiversity because, although you may not like to hear it, your shoes cost the Earth dearly. The production process of most of the big brands is not eco-friendly, nor animal-friendly, and in many cases, not human-friendly, due to the conditions in which many employees work. In short, it is not friendly to anyone. However, when we buy new shoes we don’t think about everything behind it but we do in Veja.

At VEJA, we realized this, how the world was changing and evolving. As a result, we decided to do it together with a single goal: that no one would be harmed. So we bet on terms such as sustainability, cruelty free or upcycling, which at first may be difficult to pronounce, but are here to stay. Moreover, today they are not only part of our vocabulary, but also of our way of life.
WHAT IS VEJA?
Veja is a Portuguese word that means ‘to look’. That’s what we want: to make people look through our shoes at everything behind it, every little detail. From VEJA we want to bet on transparency, and what better way to do it than being transparent from minute one.
HOW IT STARTED?
VEJA was born in 2004 from the desire to change the world of two young French boys. After visiting a textile factory in China, they realized the conditions in which the employees work and how they lived. 32 workers crammed into bunk beds in a tiny room of only 25 square meters and with a hole in the middle which they called a sink.
