Barcelona is full of international restaurants from all the sides of the world. When we think of India, the first thing that comes to mind are either cows or curry sauce. Of course, you will find the second one in Mayura (not the cows, sorry!), but what is most important of this restaurant is that they offer four Indian food tasting menus (Vegan, Mayura, Dhaba and Masti), as well as three group menus (Raaga, Maharani and Marigold). Each of these include starters, main dishes, a dessert and a drink, in different variations and amounts depending on the price. As a fact, ‘Mayura’ means ‘peacock’, which is one of the sacred birds of the Hindu culture.
An extense Indian food menu
You can find the menu online on this link, but here are some recommendations. First, you will find the suggestions of the season, such as Masala vegetables or Vindaloo chicken (a spicy dish with potatoes).
From the regular starters, you can’t miss its cheese croquetas with Naan Bread and its Samosas. Then, you can choose between Tandoor (meat and vegetables cooked in a charcoal oven), dishes with sauces like Tikka Masala, Curry, Korma, etc. with chicken, prawns, tofu, lamb, lentils and vegetables, or typical rice recipes.

The sweetest part
Moreover, for the dessert, we recommend you try the most traditional ones like Rasmalai (milk balls, coated in a smooth and sweet syrup, finished with pistachios), Sabudana (Banana and tapioca pearls in coconut cream, finished with sesame seeds) or all its homemade ice creams (mango, pistachio, vanilla…). And last, but not least, the amazing drinks and cocktails like Indian Ice Tea or Bombay Saphire are also waiting for you!

Mayura is located in Carrer Girona, 57, in the City of Counts. The space is big but, since its becoming more and more popular, it is advisable to book a table before you go. There are many different tables so that you can go alone, in a small group or even in a bigger one. The average price for a meal in this restaurant is €25. Lo tenía pendiente en mi lista de restaurantes de Barcelona y, cuando fui, lo hice por todo lo alto: con el Menú Degustación Masti (35€ por persona, mínimo 2 personas, aunque comen tres tranquilamente). Para los no amantes del picante como yo, no os preocupéis, porque pude disfrutar de todos los platos sin problema (excepto de una salsa que ya te avisan al servirla de que pica). Todos los sabores me conquistaron, pero si tuviera que escoger me quedaría con la croqueta de queso y el pollo Tikka Masala. No os digo más… ¡podéis ver el resto en el vídeo!
