Friday 30th of October Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen announced to the media the briefing of COVID-19 restrictions updated. A daily rising of cases in Denmark leads the Government to reconsider the modality of vigilance and containment of citizens, to avoid further spreads. Starting from Monday the 2nd the restrictions must be adopted by every person currently living in Denmark. Avoidance or disrespect of such norms will cost individuals a legal fine of up to 5000 dkk. A total of 125 people is now hospitalized due to COVID-19 in Denmark according to SSI, an increase of 1 since yesterday. 18 are in ICU care – also 1 more than yesterday – and 13 of the 18 are receiving ventilator treatment, which also represents a one-person increase.

The new measures are:  Mandatory facemasks in all indoor public places, a ban on selling alcohol after 10 pm (including at supermarkets and convenience stores). Next, the assembly limit will be reduced to a maximum of 10 people. Such restrictions will remain valid until January 2021, if not further notified by the same Minister Mette. The above are in addition to the previously stated mandatory use of masks in public transports, and restaurants cafés, as much as in every area of assemblage. Further on, limitations on travel have already been adopted. Thus, regarding movements in the country and abroad. Those last ones will be possible only with a declaration paper, or yellow card (civil number of recognition).  Next, danish citizens will be not able to travel from one region to another as Zealand and Jutland will be close to traffic.

In the light of current conditions in all Europe raised by the Corona Virus pandemic, the Prime Minister feels empathic towards the Danish population, explaining how much the following measures mean in the fighting together with Europe the pandemic. Indeed, other countries like Spain, France, and Italy found themselves hardly hit by the virus, which seems to maintain a stable level of influence until 2021. Hypotheses on the due deadline and hopes for a vaccine solution are hitting the mind of the whole world.

 

Although Danes generally do not seem to consider the new restrictions as extremely limitative daily. The tourism sector and as much as cities` nightlife are probably the most heavily hit according to minister Matte, whereas a plan of economical sustain is been developed, perhaps covering financially the leisure industry until 2021. Danish Health Authority director Søren Brostrøm encouraged members of the public to find a small group of people to socialize with – and not to invite more than 10 people to private gatherings. Brostrøm adds ” Christmas celebrations this year will surely be limited, but won`t stop us from seeing our loved ones”.
